Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (+1.5)
Preseason record: 1-1
Well, it has finally happened. For the first time since 2015, the Ravens suffered a loss in the preseason, a they took a stumble in Week 2 versus the Washington Commanders on the road, picking up a 29-28 defeat. Nevertheless, that was not a lackluster showing by the Ravens, at least offensively.
So far in the 2023 NFL preseason, they are averaging 24.0 points per game. Their rushing attack, in particular, has been producing yards at a high rate compared to other teams. Baltimore is burning rubber for 141.0 rushing yards per game. Against the Commanders, Baltimore had 149 rushing yards on 27 carries. That doesn’t bode well for the Buccaneers, who just allowed the New York Jets to average 6.6 yards per rushing attempt in Week 2.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1.5)
Preseason record: 1-1
The Buccaneers have already named their starting quarterback for 2023 and that’s no other hand Baker Mayfield. In other words, Mayfield can be expected to be held out of Week 3’s meeting with the Ravens. That could also mean that Kyle Trask will have a heavy workload under center on Saturday.
The Buccaneers still have John Wolford, but he’s questionable after a scary incident in Week 2’s 13-6 win ove the New York Jets. In that game, Trask went 20/28 for 218 passing yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions. Rakim Jarrett paced the offense downfield for Tampa Bay with 84 receiving yards on three catches and three targets. He could be factor again this week for Tampa Bay, which is being impressed in training camp and in the preseason by the wide receiver.
The Buccaneers have seen the total hit the Over in all of their last three games in the preseason.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Baltimore Ravens vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Ravens get back up and secure a win to finish the preseason on a positive note despite seeing their win streak end in Week 2.
Prediction:
The Ravens win, 27-17.
