Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (+6)
Preseason record: 0-2
After losing to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, 34-17, the Rams absorbed yet another loss in Week 2 via the same score against the Las Vegas Raiders. Both those losses were home games for the Rams, so perhaps being in a different atmosphere this time around will work wonders for the Rams, who are averaging just 17.0 points and 243.5 total yards per game in the preseason.
Stetson Bennett and Brett Rypien are expected to run the show on offense for the Rams on the field, with Matthew Stafford being preserved for the regular season. Bennett still needs more polish, but that’s also what preseason games are for. He went just 15/23 for 142 passing yards and an interception in the Raiders game.
The Over is 2-0 in the Rams’ last two preseason games.
Betting on the Denver Broncos (-6)
Preseason record: 0-2
The Broncos are also still seeking a win in the preseason. They lost by the slimmest of margins in Week 2 on the road to the San Francisco 49ers, 21-20. Prior to that, they lost a close one to the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale in Week 1, 18-17. They could have easily gotten a 2-0 in the preseason going into this matchup versus the Rams had a few breaks gone their way.
In any case, it’s great for the Broncos to see running back Javonte Williams play in Week 2 for the first time since suffering a brutal injury back in January. Speaking of running backs, the Broncos are sixth in the preseason with 143.5 rushing yards per game. The Broncos’ offense should be thrilled over their prospects of having a big game offensive this weekend against the Rams’ stop unit that is among the worst in the preseason with 379.5 total yards allowed per contest.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Rams vs Denver Broncos
The Broncos have lots of success moving the chains against the Rams’ leaky defense on their way to a win.
Prediction:
The Broncos win, 24-19.
