The NFL preseason has been full of mega-changes. Russell Wilson’s move to the Denver Broncos, the arrival of Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns and the Las Vegas Raiders’ acquisition of receiver Davante Adams are some of the most iconic changes that took place during the recent weeks. However, the market of the American football circuit is not going to stop yet for there are still many interesting names to move. Below there’s a list of the possible changes to come in the days to come.
3.- Baker Mayfield to the Seattle Seahawks
With the trade options running out for a desperate Baker Mayfield, in the coming days we could see the quarterback as the New Starter for the Seattle Seahawks. The latter only have Drew Lock to start the 2022 NFL campaign, so they could be bidding hard to acquire the quarterback who no longer has the Colts or Panthers available.
Mayfield has his hours counted in Cleveland after requesting a change before Watson’s arrival to the organization was made official. His arrival in Seattle may not be so expensive for a team that, although it has just entered restructuring, seems not to be entirely convinced of having Lock as its main man in the attack for the coming campaign.
2.- Brandin Cooks to the Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers surely won’t be left without making any moves to bring a new receiver to Aaron Rodgers following Davante Adams’ mega-trade to the Las Vegas Raiders. While the organization might look for one or two interesting names in the draft, they need to give experience weapons to the newly extended Rodgers, who now only has Randall Cobb as a figure in that area.
So it’s no surprising that Brandin Cooks, an experienced Houston Texans receiver, is on the Packers’ radar even though he will become a free agent next season. At 28 years of age, Cooks is one of the most consistent wide receivers in recent seasons, and the organization could acquire him at a good price if the fact that the Texans are in restructuring and have left important names in exchange for several outstanding selections in the Draft is taken under consideration.
In six of the last seven seasons, Cooks has recorded at least 1,000 rushing yards and the Packers could soon bring that talent by taking advantage of some of the picks the Raiders sent him in exchange for Adams.
1.- Jimmy Garoppolo to the Houston Texans
Like Mayfield, Jimmy Garoppolo’s market seems to be closing drastically, though there could still be organizations interested in adding the quarterback who seems to have his hours counted in San Francisco.
One of those teams would be the Houston Texans, who just came out of Deshaun Watson and need a quarterback to help them rebuild with the two first-round picks they have in each of the next three drafts. Garoppolo could be that experienced name that would also come home to an old acquaintance such as Texans general manager Nick Caseiro, who was part of the management that signed QB to the Patriots in the 2014 Draft and was subsequently one of those who refused to have him traded.
For his part, Garoppolo is not very comfortable with the 49ers either. They see Davis Mills as their quarterback of the future amid what will be the experienced quarterback’s final contract campaign, which, if released or traded, would open up a nearly $10 million gap in San Francisco’s tight salary cap.
