Goalkeeper Raúl Gudiño, who currently plays for Chivas, admitted that due to the lack of minutes in the current tournament, he is looking for options to continue his career.

Gudiño gave an interview to the Mexican portal MedioTiempo and he said that he intends to play despite the fact that he is currently being relegated by the “Rebaño” coach, Marcelo Michel Leaño.

Although a few days ago Chivas’ sports president, Ricardo Peláez, talked about a possible renewal, the goalkeeper’s contract is about to expire in December and he is knocking on a few doors in search of a new home.

Raúl Gudiño admitted that there are negotiations with the team. However, he honestly expressed that he has to look for the best option for him and his family: “That’s how things are, negotiations, but one always has to look for the best option and think with a cool head. This is the club where I was formed, to which I owe everything. We have to keep thinking about what may come in the future. We are still negotiating. There is no need to hide it. We also have to start looking for options and make the best decision as regards our family, projections and playing, which is the most important thing.”

Raúl Gudiño acknowledged that he has heard proposals from other Mexican soccer clubs as well as from abroad and is not closed to the possibility of leaving Chivas: “Yes, there have been approaches, but we are still in talks with the club. In the end, I am free to listen, sort out and make a cool choice about what the destiny and the future may have prepared for me”.

Raúl Gudiño does not know why he is a substitute at Chivas

Despite being one of the players in his position with the most clean sheets in Liga MX, the goalkeeper has been replaced in goal by Miguel Jiménez. He’s been a substitute in four games and, so far, he does not know if it is due to a technical decision or because his contract with the Guadalajara team has not been defined.

“I’m afraid I won’t be able to provide you a specific reason. I’m not sure if this is a contractual matter or if it’s a technical decision. I wouldn’t know how to answer you.”

Raúl Gudiño said that he is looking for minutes: “I absolutely don’t like not playing. We are here to play and love soccer, that’s the role we have right now”.

He said he was surprised at his role as a substitute but considers that these are soccer-related things and that he must continue working: “These are things that come up; there has not been any mistake or something very clear. These are things of soccer, that one cannot explain to oneself. One does not make the decision. If one made the decision, one would be playing and would put 11 Gudiños to play. Yes, it is surprising, one is aware and has to continue working”.

In the interview, Raúl Gudiño, who had a stint in European soccer, said that returning to the Old Continent is something he still considers as a possibility, but he made it clear that what matters most to him is to play: “It is always in the mind of any player, like a dream. I already tasted those honeys and everything. I know it’s not just anything, we’ve seen it with several players. It’s on my mind. The main thing is to play.”
