Josh Lambo, who was released in 2021, has been without a team in the NFL since, and he has decided to sue the team that fired him.

Free agent kicker Josh Lambo wasn’t sitting idly by after being cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. On Tuesday, May 10, it was announced that the player decided to sue the team for compensation.

As reported by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Josh Lambo not only demands his $3.5 million salary for the 2021 season, but he also accuses the team of causing him emotional distress during his time in Jacksonville, blaming Urban Meyer for creating a hostile environment.

Josh Lambo, 31, was with the franchise for four seasons, and was cut in October 2021, but in his lawsuit, the kicker points out that the problems with his former head coach began earlier.

Lambo chose to go out about his encounters with Meyer in December of last year, prompting the Jacksonville Jaguars to take matters into their own hands and remove Meyer, who was also failing to provide the required results with a 2-11 record.

One of the most serious allegations Josh Lambo made about Meyer was that he kicked him in the leg during training camp in August, and that he also verbally assaulted him.

The lawsuit states that “Mr. Meyer’s hostility had the intended effect on Mr. Lambo, resulting in Mr. Lambo uncharacteristically missing difficult and long kicks from the ranges of fifty-five yards, fifty-two yards and fifty-eight yards.” In plain English, it is stated that the player was attacked and that had repercussions on his performance.

What were Josh Lambo’s numbers in the 2021 season?

Josh Lambo missed two field goals in the first two preseason games in 2021, and was in the regular season opener with the Jacksonville franchise, but in October they decided to cut him. In the time he saw action last year, the kicker hit 5 of 7 extra point attempts, but of three field goal attempts he was unable to record any.

From 2017-2020, he recorded 76 of his 80 field goal attempts with Jacksonville and missed just six extra points.
