MLS Week 21 had all you could ask for in a weekend soccer day: great mood in the stands, good team performances and, above all, goals.
Despite the mid-week activity, the teams showed no signs of fatigue and performed at their best this weekend, although some did better than others to earn three points.
In the 14 games played between Saturday and Sunday there were a total of 32 goals, averaging 2.28 goals per game. There were no 0-0 draws, therefore there was action in all of the stadiums.
In case you missed them, we’ve compiled a list of the top five goals from Week 21 of MLS.
MLS Goals – Top Goals in MLS Week 21
Valentín Castellanos—New York City FC
New York City FC won the New York derby by a score of 0-1, thanks to a goal by the Argentinean Valentín Castellanos. The scoreboard remained empty during the first half, but in the 68th minute, “Taty” received a pass in the box, stretched out his leg and managed to hit the ball to give his team the lead.
Castellanos has 13 goals in the season and leads the MLS scoring charts.
Yordy Reyna – Charlotte FC
One of the best goals of Week 21 in MLS was scored by Peruvian Yordy Reyna. Despite Charlotte FC’s 3-2 loss against Inter Miami, he scored both goals, one of which was a true masterpiece. One of his teammates noticed that Reyna was entering the area on the left flank and made a change of play to find him, the ball bounced in the area and was just enough for him to kick it with force. Look at how he scored it!
Mauricio Pereyra – Orlando City
Uruguay’s Mauricio Pereyra scored Orlando City’s only goal in a 1-1 draw against Atlanta United in Week 21 of MLS. The referee called a foul on the half-moon in Orlando’s favor, and Pereyra was in charge of kicking the ball. His shot went over the wall and carried so much force that the opposing goalkeeper had no chance to react.
Emanuel Reynoso—Minnesota United
Argentina’s Emanuel Reynoso scored both goals in Minnesota United’s victory over D.C. United. The goal with which he opened the scoring was one of the best of MLS Week 21. He took the ball from Luis Amarilla and struck it with the outside of his foot to put it into the goal.
Robert Tylor – Inter of Miami
Inter Miami’s Robert Taylor was the one that came out inspired this weekend. His team was down 0-2, but he started the comeback with a wonderful goal. The ball came to him from a throw-in on the right flank, and as soon as he received it, he did his best to keep it and enter the area. He dominated, made a threat, entered the area and shot into the goal to make it 1-2, which ended up being 3-2 in favor of his team.
