Precisely the Player of the Week MLS chosen by the vote of journalists and fans through social networks, was one of the players who had a great display over the weekend.
Argentine striker Julián Carranza was named the MLS Player of the Week 26 for being the highlight of his team’s 6-0 drubbing of D.C. United. The South American striker looked unbalanced and took advantage of his great punch and the opponent’s mistakes to score three goals in this match.
In addition to his three goals, he added an assist to be worthy of this Player of the Week distinction.
Julián Carranza Is the MLS Player of the Week 26, Enjoy the Argentine’s Goals
Julián Carranza started as a starter, but all the outstanding work was done in the second half of the game. He opened his scoring account in the 47th minute when Philadelphia Union already had a 2-0 lead.
He picked up the ball on the edge of the box and showed the magic of his left foot as he unleashed a beautiful shot that became the team’s third goal.
In the 70th minute, he got his second goal after several rebounds inside the area. He found the ball, settled in, and shot.
The night was already magical for the Argentinean, but he still had more history to tell. He completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute, after a mistake between the defense and the goalkeeper put the ball on a golden platter.
With his hat-trick on Saturday, the Argentine became the only MLS player in the 2022 season to record two hat-tricks. In addition, Julián Carranza reached 12 goals and seven assists in the campaign.
The victory leaves the Philadelphia Union as the absolute leader of the Eastern Conference with 51 points, after recording 14 wins, nine draws and four defeats.
Philadelphia’s next match will be on August 27 against Colorado Rapids, where they will look to distance themselves even further in the standings and continue to be the team with the least amount of defeats suffered this season.
