Taxiarchis Fountas, forward of the D.C. United had a stellar performance in the big game against Orlando City and was named Player of the MLS Week 18.
The match between Orlando City and D.C. United was the match with the most goals during the course of Week 18 of the MLS, with a total of eight goals, with a favorable score of 3-5 for the capital.
The standout performer in the match was the Greek, Taxiarchis Fountas, who scored a hat-trick.
Fountas was on the field for 58 minutes, and that was enough for him to put on a show. In addition to his three goals, the player recorded 50% passing accuracy, took four shots and created six chances. A dream night for the Greek.
He opened the scoring at minute 5, after receiving a pass in the area, the striker was in the right place and just kicked the ball to put the score at 1-0.

Taxiarchis Fountas Scored the First Hat-Trick of His Career
Taxiarchis Fountas arrived this season at the MLS and has been doing quite well. He has played 10 games with D.C. United, scoring nine goals and adding three assists, so in total he has participated in 12 goals, which represents 52.17 % of the 23 goals registered by the capital team.
It is his first hat trick in MLS and in his career. The 26-year-old Greek striker has scored four goals in D.C. United’s last two games and is among the top five scorers, so he could fight for the Golden Boot.
His good performance, but especially his goals, put him in the public eye this weekend, and he was named MLS Player of the Week 18, an award presented by Continental Tire.
