The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in the city of Detroit, as announced by the NFL itself on Monday, a few days after it was announced that the 2023 will be held in Kansas City.
A few days ago it was revealed that the headquarters of the 2023 NFL Draft will be in Kansas City for the first time, and this Monday during the annual meetings of the NFL, the news was announced that for the 2024 NFL Draft, the “Motor City” has been chosen to be in charge of the realization of the recruiting event.
Detroit is the largest city in the state of Michigan and is known as the Motor City because one of the main economic activities is the automotive industry.
According to NFL Network journalist Tom Pelissero, the NFL was among three cities to hold the 2024 NFL Draft, and in the end opted to choose Detroit over Green Bay and Washington, D.C.
In fact, the executive vice president of Business and Events of the NFL teams, Peter O’Reilly confirmed pelissero’s version since he mentioned it when he made official the announcement that Detroit will host the 2024 NFL Draft.
2024 NFL Draft Is Expected to Be an Incredible Experience
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was excited about the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit and hopes it will be an “incredible experience”: “With the help of Visit Detroit, the Detroit Sports Commission and the City of Detroit, the lions’ passionate fan base and all visitors will enjoy an incredible three-day experience.”
Packers president Mark Murphy also spoke and despite failing to bring the venue to Green Bay was optimistic: “The Packers and the community that supports the event remain optimistic that Green Bay will have the opportunity to host the NFL Draft in the near future.”
Murphy made it clear that they will continue to strive to host the recruiting event: “We will continue to work with Discover Green Bay and our other partners in an effort to update the details of our offering and continue our dialogue with NFL officials so that they remain enthusiastic about our community’s plan to host this important event.”
From 1965 to 2014 the NFL held the event in New York City, but then it was decided to take it to a different place each year.
This year the city of Las Vegas is ready to hold the 2022 NFL Draft, on April 28-30.
