With the 2022 NFL Draft just days away, the Atlanta Falcons reportedly have a serious chance to square a move with the Cleveland Browns for the services of Baker Mayfield, according to Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey.
It’s important to mention that, in a possible trade for the 26-year-old quarterback, the Falcons would be giving up a second-round pick and a sixth-round pick.
The fact that the Falcons are currently without a major player at quarterback position due to the departure of veteran Matt Ryan, who is now with the Indianapolis Colts, adds to their favorability in the race for Mayfield.
Mayfield’s future will be defined in the coming days, after playing his first four NFL seasons with the Browns where he achieved outstanding performances but without establishing himself as one of the league’s young stars.
During his NFL career, the former college-football Oklahoma quarterback has never played fewer than 14 regular-round games, indicating that he is a healthy quarterback.
Baker Mayfield’s numbers with the Cleveland Browns
Mayfield arrived to the NFL with the Browns in 2018 to lead the team’s offense in the midst of a rebuild that failed to live up to expectations.
After four seasons in professional soccer, the quarterback records a 61.6% pass completion rate, with a total of 14,125 yards and an average of 7.3 yards per pass. In addition, he has made 92 touchdown passes and 56 interceptions.
We’re talking about a player who could finish maximizing all of his power in the NFL with a switch of teams.
