The tight end, Dalton Schultz, resisted appearing in the activities organized by the team with the intention of putting pressure on the contractual issue as, since March, he was labeled as a franchise player, and, although his place in the Cowboys this season is secured, the player expects a multi-year contract.

Schultz appeared at the mandatory mini-training camp on Tuesday, although before it was known, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network told on his Twitter account that the tight end had in mind to return.

According to the journalist, Dalton Schultz and the Dallas franchise have resumed talks on the contractual issue. They have until July 15 to resolve the issue, and if they don’t, the player will receive $10.931 million for the 2022 season.

Unlike OTAs, the mini training camp, which lasts only three days, is mandatory and players who choose to skip those sessions are fined.

Had Schultz skipped training this Tuesday, he would have to pay $15,515 dollars, if he skips the second, $31,030, and if he does not attend the third the fine is $46,540 dollars.

Schultz began to put pressure on the Texas franchise once he learned that the Cleveland Browns’ David Njoku, another tight end who received the franchise tag in March, was given a four-year, $56.7 million-dollar extension.

The 25-year-old is coming off the best season of his professional career, in which he caught 78 passes for 808 yards and recorded eight touchdowns.

Additionally, among NFL tight end players, Schultz finished sixth in receiving yards and third in receptions. With the departure of receiver Amari Cooper, he could be more of a protagonist this season, but before playing he wants to ensure his permanence in the Texan franchise for more than a year.
