The AMERIGOL LATAM Cup is a tournament with teams representing the regions of Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East, all supported by the NHL, one of the main stakeholders and mediators of the tournament itself. It is played at the Florida Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs, Florida, the Panthers’ practice facility, Wednesday through Sunday.
To tell you all about this tournament at JefeBet we have gathered the most relevant and recent information. Learn more in depth below.
What Is the AMERIGOL LATAM Cup About?
The tournament will include 44 teams and players representing 21 countries and territories including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
More than 750 players will compete in six divisions, including the men’s Divisions I and II, a women’s division and the under-12, under-16 and U-20 youth groups. Teams are a mix of home and non-citizen players who have at least one parent or grandparent born in the country they represent.
The tournament has grown steadily since the inaugural LATAM Cup in 2018, when five teams and 92 players competed over three days. It has been expanded to include a LATAM Cup Spring Classic, hosted by the Dallas Stars in Farmers Branch, Texas, in March.
“We are trying to build something in our home country. We’re trying to get a full-sized rink” said Sameh Ramadan, one of the founders of Egyptian ice hockey. “The LATAM Cup is perfect because it’s a very well-organized and respected tournament. And the fact that the NHL is one of the sponsors and gets a lot of coverage, so field hockey eyes will be on it. So if people don’t know we exist, now they will.”
