Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (+3)
Regular season record: 2-1
The Falcons faltered for the first time this season, as they suffered a 20-6 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions on the road in Week 3. Before that, the Falcons beat the Carolina Panthers (24-10) and the Green Bay Packers (25-24) – both at home – in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively.
The Falcons, who are 2-2 against the spread in their last four games overall, will look to spark their offense after a dismal showing on that end of the field versus the Lions. Their pass protection has to be better after allowing Desmond Ridder to get sacked seven times for a loss of 62 yards in the Detroit game. Rookie running back Bijan Robinson only had 33 rushing yards on 10 carries, too. Even then, the Falcons believe they can fly offensively again in Week 4 against a Jacksonville squad whose defense got abused by a rookie-led Houston Texans’ attack.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (-3)
Regular season record: 1-2
The Jaguars failed to prevent a two-game losing skid, with another loss sustained in Week 3. After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2, 17-9, the Jags felt they would be able to take care of business against a less threatening team in the form of the Houston Texans, but they still lost in that game, 37-17.
Both those games against the Chiefs and the Texans were home assignments for Jacksonville, so perhaps a trip outside EverBank Stadium could be a cure to the malaise of the Jags. Technically, they are the home team in Week 4, but the meeting with Atlanta will be in London. The Jags have won four of their last seven games in London.
