The Ravens will have to quickly turn the page on a rather bitter afternoon at home following their loss to the Dolphins after leading, 35-14, heading into the final quarter of the game.
Baltimore’s defense could not back up a great performance by its quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who not only threw for 318 yards through the air with three touchdown passes, but was also his team’s leading rusher with 119 yards, including a 79-yard TD run.
As we already mentioned, the Ravens’ defense was a real disaster, especially in the second half of the game: Tua Tagovailoa threw six TD passes and the Dolphins totaled 547 total yards. The Patriots’ offense isn’t as explosive as Miami’s, but with an old fox like Bill Belichick calling the plays, Baltimore’s secondary won’t be out of danger.
Betting on the New England Patriots
- Regular Season Record: 1-1
- BetMGM Spread: +3.0.
- Moneyline: (+135)
- Over/Under: 43.5
On Sunday, the Patriots won their first game of the season in typical New England fashion: by playing good defense and doing small things to keep the opposing team from scoring.
On offense, Mac Jones is still not showing last year’s performance, but his 252 air yards and one touchdown pass were more than enough to help his team. Damien Harris added another touchdown on the ground, and now the Patriots will face a Baltimore team that hasn’t lived up to expectations defensively speaking.
This is a job that New England did do against the Steelers’ poor offense. The Patriots allowed just 243 yards to Pittsburgh and forced two fumbles, one by interception and one by fumble. Of course, Jackson is no Mitch Trubisky, but the Pats always find a way to trouble opponents, especially if they are playing at home.
JefeBet Prediction
The Patriots normally find a way to win their games, but Lamar Jackson is motivated: he wants to prove to the Ravens that they were wrong not to offer him a lucrative contract, and no one has been able to stop him in his first two games.
Baltimore’s defense will improve against a New England offense that has scored only 26 points in the first two games of the season due to serious problems.
Prediction: Ravens Spread (BAL 24 – NE 17).
