Betting on the Chicago Bears (+13)
Regular season record: 0-2
The Bears suffered yet another loss in Week 2. With Justin Fields playing inconsistently, Chicago was not able to overcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and lost to Baker Mayfield and company on the road last Sunday, 27-17. Fields went just 16/29 for 211 passing yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.
He was also sacked six times for a loss of 42 yards. It is still too early to lose hope on the Bears, though. For one, wide receiver Chase Claypool might have finally turned the corner at last, as he caught a touchdown for the first time this season. Fields is always a threat to opposing defenses because of his speed and athleticism, so the Chiefs can’t feel too confident when they share the field against the winless Bears.
Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-13)
Regular season record: 1-1
The Chiefs got their moxie back, and that means danger for the Bears. After getting stunned in Week 1 by the Detroit Lions, Kansas City, with Travis Kelce and Chris Jones making their season debuts, took care of business and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road, 17-9.
Kelce looked a bit rusty in the Jags game, as he caught four of nine targets for 26 yards and a touchdown. Now that he’s warmed up, Kelce should be better in Week 3. Jones, on the other hand, had two tackles and 1.5 sacks against Jacksonville. Kansas City’s pass rush will be looking to make a huge impact on Sunday, considering that the Bears are tied for the second-most sacks (10) allowed this season.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Chicago Bears vs Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are a big favorite here for obvious reasons, but they didn’t look so great in Week 2. The Bears will do just enough in Week 3 to cover the spread.
Prediction:
The Chiefs win, 27-16.
