Betting on the Chicago Bears (+6)
Regular season record: 0-4
The Bears are still winless this season. They thought they had a win in the bag already when they established a big lead in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos at home but Chicago ultimately lost that contest, 31-28. That was a hard loss to swallow for the Bears, especially since Justin Fields looked so good for the first time in a while.
Fields finished with 335 passing yards and four touchdowns with just an interception on 28/35 completions. Hopefully for the Bears, even after such a painful loss, it marks the start of a turnaround, at least offensively, for them. They can continue unloading on offense in Week 5 against the Commanders, who are allowing 30 points per game.
Betting on the Washington Commanders (-6)
Regular season record: 2-2
After starting the season with back-to-back wins, the Commanders have lost two in a row, including Week 4’s 34-31 overtime defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Sam Howell passed for 290 yards and a touchdown on 29/41 completions in a decent bounce-back performance after a horrific showing in Week 3.
Washington took the fight to the reigning NFC champions and came just a Riverboat Ron call away from potentially winning the game in regulation. Nevertheless, it was nice for the Commanders to see themselves put together a much better offensive performance than the one they had in Week 3 versus the Buffalo Bills. Chicago isn’t a great defensive team either, as the Bears are second-worst in the NFL with 34.3 points allowed per game.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Chicago Bears vs Washington Commanders
The Commanders add to the woes of Chicago, as they go up .500 again with a win at home on Thursday.
Prediction:
The Commanders win, 24-20.
