Betting on the Chicago Bears (TBA)
Regular season record: 2-6
It’s back to the drawing board for the Bears, as they suffered a 30-13 road loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8’s Sunday Night Football special. Rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent played like, well, a rookie, as he went 25/37 for 232 passing yards and zero touchdowns with two interceptions.
If anything, he had a great connection with tight end Cole Kmet, who paced Chicago with 79 receiving yards and 10 receptions on 10 targets. There is life in Chicago’s offense that just needs to get unlocked. Could the key be the potential return of Justin Fields to action? Fields has missed the last two Bears games with a thumb injury, and while Chicago’s attack looked disjointed most of the time even when Fields was healthy, it still has a higher floor and ceiling when he’s the one leading the charge on the field.
Betting on the New Orleans Saints (TBA)
Regular season record: 4-4
The Saints prevented a three-game losing skid by exploding offensively in a 38-27 road win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. The good Derek Carr showed up in that game, as he passed for 310 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 19/27 completions.
The pair of Tayson Hill and Alvin Kamara combined for three rushing touchdowns to help tow New Orleans to a victory. Hill might be relevant again, as a unique touchdown-generating do-it-all weapon for the Saints, who are looking to abuse Chicago’s defense that is giving up 26.9 points and 257.1 total yards per game, 28th and 29th in the league, so far this season, respectively.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints
The Saints are just 0-3 against the spread in home games in 2023, but that streak ends this week versus the struggling Bears.
Prediction:
The Saints win, 24-17.
