Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (+5.5)
Regular season record: 3-3
The Bengals have momentum and they’re well-rested. Following consecutive wins over the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks, the Bengals entered a bye in Week 7. Cincinnati’s defense starred for the Bengals in their 17-13 win over the Seahawks in Week 6, as they intercepted Seattle quarterback twice and sacked him four times.
Cincinnati carries a strong pass rush, one that is largely responsible for the fact that the Bengals already have 19 sacks this season and are sixth with an 8.92 percent defensive sack rate. That stout defense by Cincy could manifest itself anew in Week 8 versus the Niners, whose starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, has been sacked four times and intercepted three times over the last two weeks.
Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (-5.5)
Regular season record: 5-2
It’s not looking good at the moment for the Niners. San Francisco looked invincible over the first several weeks of the 2023 NFL regular season, but the 49ers have seemingly regressed of late, as evidenced by their back-to-back losses to the Cleveland Browns at home and to the Minnesota Vikings on the road in Week 7.
In their 22-17 loss last Monday to the Vikings, the 49ers wasted another terrific effort from running back Christian McCaffrey, who scored two touchdowns from scrimmage. McCaffrey now has eight rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns this season. Even with Purdy struggling, CMC can be relied upon by the Niners to continue producing for their offense that is still second in the NFL with 28.7 points per game.

The 49ers are too good of a team to lose three games in a row. I’m expecting San Francisco to get back to their winning ways by downing the Bengals at home on Sunday.
