Betting on the Denver Broncos (-3)
Regular season record: 0-3
You got to feel for the Broncos. They just got embarrassed big time in Week 3 by the Miami Dolphins on the road, as Denver suffered a 70-20 loss. A 50-point beatdown is never going to sit well for any team. It’s either going to light a fire under the Broncos or they will fall into a misery pit they wouldn’t be able to get out of soo.
Hopefully for the Broncos, it’s going to be the former, as they head to Windy City to face the also-struggling Bears. They can’t lose by 50 again, right? There is no way but up for the Broncos, who played badly as a team overall in Week 3 but got a decent performance from Russell Wilson, who passed for 306 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 23/38 completions. Denver could not have asked for a much better team to face than the Bears after a humiliating loss, especially since Chicago is just in the bottom third in the league in both scoring offense and scoring defense.
Betting on the Chicago Bears (+3)
Regular season record: 0-3
Like the Broncos, the Bears are a zero-win team so far this season. They did not lose by 50 points in Week 3, but they still got outclassed by the Kansas City Chiefs in a 41-10 loss at Arrowhead Stadium. Doubts are being raised again about whether Justin Fields can truly become a long-term quarterback for Chicago, which is currently averaging just 15.7 points and 148.3 passing yards per game, 27th and 31st overall in the NFL this season, respectively.
That being said, Fields and the Bears can shine against Denver, which isn’t looking great either. Denver might have yet to recover in full from its devastating loss to the Dolphins come Week 4, so there’s a chance the Bears will face a still demoralized Broncos side.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Denver Broncos vs Chicago Bears
Both teams are bad at the moment, but Russell Wilson’s play will spell the difference in favor of the Broncos. Taking the Broncos to win.
Prediction:
The Broncos win, 24-17.
