Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-2)
Regular season record: 3-2
Even without Deshaun Watson, the Browns found a way to pull off a shocking 19-17 road upset win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6. PJ Walker stepped in to start under center for the Browns in lieu of Watson, and while Walker did not have a scintillating performance (passing for just 192 yards with zero TDs and two interceptions), he did well enough to keep Cleveland’s head above water.
Walker could get another start in Week 7 if Watson is forced to miss another game due to an upper-body injury. In any case, the Browns’ defense is going to be there on Sunday looking to victimize yet another team. On the season, the Browns are fifth in the league with just 15.4 points allowed per game and second in defensive sack rate (10.14%).
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (+2)
Regular season record: 3-3
The Colts will not have quarterback Anthony Richardson in Week 7 – and beyond. The rookie signal-caller is expected to miss several weeks and perhaps the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury. With Richardson hurt, look for Gardner Minshew to handle the quarterbacking chores for now for the Colts, who are coming off a 37-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.
Minshew passed for 329 yards and a touchdown in that game, but was just 33/25 and got intercepted three times. He is still a decent backup option for the Colts, who are also starting to get more production from star running back Jonathan Taylor. Michael Pittman Jr. is another great talent on offense for the Colts. So far this season, the Colts are 10th in the NFL with 228.7 passing yards per game.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Cleveland Browns vs Indianapolis Colts
The Browns’ defense will have a field day against the Colts. Taking the Browns to win in an ugly contest.
Prediction:
The Browns win, 21-17.
