Betting on the Cleveland Browns (+2.5)
Regular season record: 4-2
The Browns have survived another game without Deshaun Watson. Well, technically, Watson played in Cleveland’s 39-38 win over the Indianapolis Colts on the road in Week 7, but he was not able to last an entire quarter.
He left in the first period after taking a big hit, as the Browns instead relied on PJ Walker to handle the QB duties the rest of the way. It’s uncertain whether Watson will play in Week 8 versus the Seahawks, but expect Cleveland to have full confidence in its defense. The Browns allowed nearly 40 points to the Colts, but not before their defense recorded an interception, four sacks, and three fumbles. Myles Garrett is a defensive monster and he could be a huge nightmare to deal with for the Seahawks’ offensive line.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-2.5)
Regular season record: 4-2
The Seahawks prevented a two-game skid as they took down the Arizona Cardinals at home in Week 7, 20-10. Geno Smith did just enough under center, passing for 219 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 18/24 completions. Meanwhile, running back Kenneth Walker rushed for 105 yards on 26 carries.
Wide receiver DK Metcalf was sidelined in the Cardinals game due to hip and rib issues, but he can be expected to return in Week 8. In any case, Smith has a plethora of weapons downfield, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo starting to make their presence felt in the passing attack. Defensively, Seattle can secure extra possessions versus a Cleveland team that is averaging the most giveaways per contest in the league, so far this season.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Cleveland Browns vs Seattle Seahawks
The Browns will shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and the Seahawks convert at least one of those errors into a scoring drive – enough to help push Seattle to a victory.
Prediction:
The Seahawks win, 23-20.
