Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-2.5)
Regular season record: 1-0
The Browns kicked off their 2023 schedule with a big 24-3 win over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. Cleveland’s defense was unforgiving on the Bengals, as they limited Cincinnati to only 142 total yards and just six first downs. The Bengals also went just 2/15 on third downs.
The Browns hope to sustain their momentum against the Steelers, who are led by a young quarterback with still questionable capabilities in the pros. That sounds like a treat for Myles Garrett and the Browns’ defense. Offensively, the Browns will look to turn to running back Nick Chubb again after he rushed 18 times for 106 yards in Week 1. The Steelers got lit up for 188 rushing yards and a touchdown last week.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (+2.5)
Regular season record: 0-1
The Steelers suffered a 30-7 home loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. Their offense that looked so effective in the preseason barely produced in the Niners game, as the Steelers racked up only 239 total yards. They also had two turnovers, both off interceptions thrown by Kenny Pickett.
It could get harder for Pittsburgh to move the chains, with wide receiver Diontae Johnson declared out for the next few Steelers games. It might be the defense carrying the Steelers again. The good news for them is that TJ Watt is at his top form apparently. He had three sacks, five total tackles, and a pass defended against San Francisco. The Browns’ offense still looks like it needs plenty of work, and slowing it down shouldn’t be as difficult of a task as stopping the Niners for the Steelers.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers rebound from a bad loss and show why they’re so much better than their performance against the 49ers by taking down Cleveland at home.
Prediction:
The Steelers win, 19-16.
