Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (TBA)
Regular season record: 1-7
The Cards are still freefalling. They have lost all of their last five games, including their 31-24 defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens at home in Week 8. That being said, there are some positive takeaways from the Cardinals even in that loss. For one, tight end Trey McBride might have just shown everyone that he’s the newest major weapon for Arizona.
McBride went off for 95 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 receptions and 14 targets against the Ravens, who are one of the best defensive teams in the league. Having a performance like that is a huge confidence booster for McBride, especially heading into a game against another stout defense, this time the Browns. Kyler Murray is no longer on the Cardinals’ injury report, but head coach Jonathan Gannon already said that Arizona will continue to start Joshua Dobbs in Week 9.
Betting on the Cleveland Browns (TBA)
Regular season record: 4-3
The Browns had a painful Week 8, as a decision to go for it with a pass in the fourth quarter led to an interception by the Seattle Seahawks, who would then go on to score the game-winning touchdown after that pick. Cleveland lost to the Seahawks, 24-20, but there’s no need to panic yet for the team, which won two games in a row before the setback at the hands of Geno Smith and company.
In Week 9, the Browns seem to still be uncertain of the availability of Deshaun Watson, who sat out Week 8 with shoulder discomfort. In any case, look for the Browns to pound the ball on the ground in Week 9 versus the Cardinals’ defense which is among the worst in the league against the run. Arizona is just 26th overall with 130.6 rushing yards allowed per game and 30th with 1.4 rushing touchdowns given up per contest.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Arizona Cardinals vs Cleveland Browns
The Cardinals had their moments against Baltimore, and they will have them again in Cleveland. It’s still hard to believe in the Browns’s offense, with or without Watson, but Cleveland should still be able to put away the Cardinals. Taking the Browns to win in a close game.
Prediction:
The Browns win, 24-21.
