Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (+1.5)
Preseason record: 1-1
The Cardinals got crushed in Week 2 by the Kansas City Chiefs. Their offense couldn’t do much to keep up with the Chiefs and they ended up losing the contest by a huge margin, 38-10. While the defeat isn’t really an indication of how well the Cards are going to play in the regular season, especially in the early parts with Kyler Murray still not ready, the Cardinals do not take such a loss lightly, so expect them to play tighter and smoother versus the Vikings.
After having zero sacks and forcing zero turnovers in Week 2, Arizona’s defense must be aching to give it a go again. As for their offense, there’s also work to do after it went 3/13 on third downs versus the Chiefs and 1/3 in the red zone.
Arizona has seen the total go over in four of its last five games in the preseason.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (-1.5)
Preseason record: 0-2
Minnesota is still winless in the preseason. The Vikings lost to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 on the road, 24-13, and then in Week 2 to the Tennessee Titans at home, 24-16. A problematic offensive line is slowing down Minnesota, and that was mighty apparent in the Tennessee game in wihuch Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens was lit up by the Titans defense in the backfield multiple times.
However, that might not be much of a problem for the Viking this week, given how seemingly toothless and ineffective the Cards’ defense is based on its Week 2 performance. Plus, the Cardinals are second-worst in the preseason with 408.0 total yards allowed per game.
The Under is 2-1 in the Vikings’ last two preseason games at home.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Arizona Cardinals vs Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have not won a preseason game in their last nine tries. That ugly skid continues for Minnesota, as the Cardinals win in Week 3.
Prediction:
The Cardinals win, 24-23.
