Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (+5.5)
Regular season record: 2-3
The Chargers came off a Week 5 bye and got punched in the face in a 20-17 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Monday. Their third loss does not bode well for their chances against the reigning Super Bowl champions this coming weekend. However, the Chargers are not lacking in talent.
Justin Herbert remains one of the best quarterbacks in the game today. Running back Austin Ekeler could also be better this week after playing in his first game back from an injury. Kansas City is always a tough assignment, but it also struggled against teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets and did not really look so dominant offensively at least in last week’s win over the careening Denver Broncos.
Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5)
Regular season record: 5-1
The Chiefs have not looked back since their Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions. In their most recent outing, Patrick Mahomes and company scored a 19-8 win over the Broncos at home in Week 6.
Mahomes passed for 306 yards and a touchdown with an interception opposite the Broncos, while Travis Kelce swiftly had 124 receiving yards while catching all nine targets. Kelce is a major problem – always. As a team, the Chiefs are averaging 24.5 points and 382.3 total yards per game – ninth and fourth in the league so far this season, respectively. Kansas City has also been stout defensively, at least on paper, as they are second overall with just 14.7 points allowed per contest.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Chargers vs Kansas City Chiefs
The Chargers’ offense will be a big test for Kansas City. The Chiefs will survive Herbert and company but it will be a close win for the Super Bowl champions.
Prediction:
The Chiefs win, 27-24.
