Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (-3)
Regular season record: 0-1
The Chargers got the short end of the stick of an absolutely electric game in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins at home. Los Angeles lost to the Fins, 36-34, in a game that clearly the Chargers struggled defensively. However, their attack was incredible, particularly on the ground.
Austin Ekeler rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while Joshua Kelley had 91 rushing yards and a touchdown on also 16 rushing attempts. Even if the Chargers showed up with another poor display on defense in Week 2, the Titans don’t seem to have the variety of weapons to keep up with Los Angeles, which also saw Justin Herbert pass for 228 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 23/33 completions in the Dolphins game.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (+3)
Regular season record: 0-1
There is a reason to believe that the Titans will bench Ryan Tannehill for someone else in Week 2 after the veteran struggled mightily in Week 1’s 16-15 road loss to the New Orleans Saints. Tannehill went 16/34 for 198 yards while also throwing for zero touchdowns and getting picked three times. He was also sacked thrice for a loss of 17 yards.
Regardless of which quarterback starts this week for Tennessee, the Titans could have more fun and be more productive offensively this time around, considering the quality of defense the Chargers brought in Week 1. This could be where wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will have his first monster game in a Titans uniform. He was not too shabby though in Week 1, converting seven catches into 65 yards.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Chargers vs Tennessee Titans
The Titans are not looking good with Tannehill playing poorly in Week 1. Taking the Chargers to win and cover in this game.
Prediction:
The Chargers win, 27-17.
