Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-9)
Regular season record: 2-1
The Chiefs have completely gotten over their Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions at home, as they have won two games in a row since. The latest was a 41-10 destruction of the Chicago Bears at home in Week 3. Patrick Mahomes passed for 272 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions and no sacks taken versus the Bears.
While the Jets seem to have a stouter defense than Chicago this season, their inefficient offense could earn Kansas City extra possessions. That’s not ideal for any Kansas City opponent, as the Chiefs are always a major threat when they have the ball. On the season, the Chiefs are fifth with 390.3 total yards per game and also fifth with 3.0 touchdowns per contest.
Betting on the New York Jets (+9)
Regular season record: 1-2
The Jets still have to live with Zach Wilson as their starter. Wilson is not the savior the Jets need to turn their season around, but they are continuing with him, at least until Week 4 of the 2023 NFL regular season.
If the Jets are to upset the Chiefs at home, New York will have to coax a fantastic performance from its defense just like it did in its Week 1 22-16 overtime victory at home against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. New York intercepted Allen in that game a total of three times and took him to the ground five times for a Buffalo loss of 19 yards. The Jets’ defense hasn’t been as sharp since, but it certainly is capable of a big performance.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Kansas City Chiefs vs New York Jets
So long as Wilson is under center for the Jets, it’s going to be hard to trust them against any team, let alone opposite the reigning Super Bowl champions. Taking the Chiefs to win this game.
Prediction:
The Chiefs win, 23.-13
