Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)
Regular season record: 3-1
With or without Taylor Swift in attendance in the Minnesota game, the Chiefs will be a big threat to the Vikings. The reigning Super Bowl champions are on a three-game win streak. They got surprisingly challenged by Zach Wilson and the New York Jets in East Rutherford in Week 4 but got away with a 23-20 victory. Patrick Mahomes was not at his best in that game, as he passed for 203 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions on 18/30 completions. He is human after all.
But it’s hard to bet against Mahomes being bad two games in a row, especially if the next game is against a team with a mediocre defense. The Vikings are just 19th in the league with 23.8 points allowed per game and 20th with 233.5 passing yards per outing.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (+3.5)
Regular season record: 1-3
The Vikings finally arrested their losing skid, as they are no longer winless this season after taking down the Carolina Panthers on the road last Sunday, 21-13. Interestingly enough, the Vikings won despite Kirk Cousins producing his worst game of the season thus far. Cousins went 12/19 for only 139 passing yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Chiefs’ defense offers hope for a Cousins bounce-back performance, though. Kansas City was embarrassed by the much-maligned Zach Wilson (28/39, 245 passing yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions in Week 4) and could be exposed again by Couusins, who is fourth in the NFL with 1,214 passing yards to go with 11 touchdowns and only four picks thrown.
