The Colts still could not find their way out of a slump. They are on a three-game losing skid and have lost four of their last five games after losing to the New Orleans Saints. However, this is a team that clearly can put a ton of points on the board. In fact, the Colts have averaged 28.3 points in their last three games, the fourth-best mark in the NFL over that same stretch.
They even scored 38 points in a loss at home in Week 7 to the Cleveland Browns, arguably the best defensive team in the league right now. Indianapolis’ defense is a different story, as it is last in the NFL with 28.6 points per game, though, linebacker Shaquille Leonard and Zaire Franklin could be game-changers in this upcoming contest after combining for 25 tackles in Week 8.
Betting on the Carolina Panthers (+2.5)
Regular season record: 1-6
In a duel between the top two quarterbacks taken in this year’s draft, it’s Bryce Young who came out on top, as Panthers rookie signal-caller outplayed CJ Stroud in a 15-13 home win over the Houston Texans last Sunday. Young passed for 235 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 22/31 completions.
It was not a sparkling performance based on the numbers, but those were good enough to lead Carolina to its first win of the season. Now that they have finally tasted a win, Young and the Panthers could be more efficient with the ball in Week 9 against the aforementioned leaky Colts defense which is also only 25th in the NFL with 247.3 passing yards allowed per game.
