Betting on the Washington Commanders (+6)
Regular season record: 4-5
The Commanders stopped their bleeding by ending a two-game skid with a 20-17 victory over the New England Patriots on the road in Week 9. Sam Howell passed for 325 yards and a touchdown with an interception, while completing 29/45 passes. Howell is starting to turn heads and gaining more believers each week. He still needs lots of polishing, but the promise is there.
He has nine interceptions on the season, but he has only thrown for two in the last two Washington games while recording five passing touchdowns in that same stretch. He can shine this weekend opposite the Seahawks’ defense that has been very susceptible against the pass. It could get better for Washington’s passing attack, as wide receiver Curtis Samuel seems to have a good chance of returning from injury this weekend.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-6)
Regular season record: 5-3
The Seahawks suffered a brutal loss to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on the road in Week 9. Unable to generate offense and looking helpless on defense, the Seahawks absorbed an embarrassing 37-3 defeat at the hands of the Ravens.
But it can get better for Seattle this week against a team like Washington that still has a lot to prove. With the Commanders trading two of their best defensive pieces ahead of the deadline, Washington is left with a seemingly thin defense that can be due for abuse from Geno Smith and company. The Seahawks are averaging 21.4 points per game, just 17th in the league, but keep in mind that the figure is skewed by the ugly loss in Baltimore.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Washington Commanders vs Seattle Seahawks
Geno Smith and the Seahawks’ offense recover and take advantage of Washington’s defense that is 30th in the league in points allowed per game.
Prediction:
The Seahawks win, 29-23.
