Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (+6.5)
Preseason record: 0-1
The Deuce Vaughn hype might be for real. The Cowboys’ sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft showed that his training camp success was not a fluke, as he led Dallas with 50 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries, albeit in a 28-23 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Don’t be surprised if Vaughn shines again this week, as he just looks like a really talented weapon the Cowboys will have fun deploying on the field in the future once he reaches his full potential.
Meanwhile, Will Grier passed for 199 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 22/31 completions against the Jaguars. It was a mixed bag of results for Dallas’ offense in Week 1, but there was definitely promise for the team on that end of the field where the Cowboys also went 3/3 on fourth downs. The Over is 3-0 in the Cowboys’ last three preseason outings.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-6.5)
Preseason record: 1-0
There is hope for Drew Lock. The Seahawks backup quarterback passed for 191 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 17/24 completions in last week’s 24-13 home win over the Minnesota Vikings. Look for the Seahawks to keep heavily using him in Week 2 against Dallas. The interception charged to Lock was also not entirely his fault. In other words, he was solid and should be able to make things happen from the pocket against Dallas, which got torched for 153 passing yards and a touchdown by a former CFL quarterback in Week 1.
Meanwhile, star rookie wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba had 25 receiving yards on three catches and four targets. He might get an increased run in Week 2. Defensively, there could be more resistance on the ground from the Seahawks than the Jags, which the Cowboys won’t like. Seattle allowed just 83 rushing yards to Minnesota on 26 rushing attempts. The Seahawks are also 5-5 against the spread in their last 10 home games in the preseason.
