The Dallas Cowboys need to quickly turn the page on their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday, and what better way to do it than at home against the Detroit Lions and with Dak Prescott’s return.
With a 17-26 loss, the Cowboys lost their chance to tie the Eagles at the top of the NFC East and fell to third place in the division behind the Giants. However, their 4-2 record keeps them in contention for a postseason berth, and a win against Detroit in Week 7 action is extremely important.
Against Philadelphia, the Dallas team suffered in its weakest area: the offensive line. Without Prescott, who is almost guaranteed a uniform against Detroit, the Eagles’ good defense stood out against Cooper Rush, who was intercepted three times.
Of course, the Lions’ defense is far from that of the Eagles. In fact, it is one of the worst in the circuit since in no game have they allowed less than 27 points to their rivals. Despite having one game less, this is the team that has conceded the most goals in the league (170).The Titans allow the most yards per play (6.5), along with the Titans the most net yards per pass (7.4), and third in yards allowed per carry (5.5).
This is something Dallas should certainly take advantage of, especially if their star quarterback returns. The Cowboys’ offense is averaging just 18.3 points per game, and no game this season has gone over 400 total yards.
For its part, the defense has been a real spectacle. Even though they could not solve the offensive mistakes in the game against Philadelphia, they are still among the best in the league; and now they will have to measure themselves against a Detroit offense that is one of the most powerful in the first six weeks and that is coming off a rest.
The key to Sunday’s game will be stopping the Lions’ ground attack, which is second in average yards per carry in the league (5.4). While Dallas is third in terms of lowest average yards conceded per play and per pass, on the ground defense they have struggled a bit by allowing 4.4 yards rushing per run.

Dak Prescott’s presence is not yet confirmed, but is almost a given. The quarterback’s return is great news for a team that managed to get by without him and needs to improve on offense beyond the decent job Rush did in his absence.
However, even if Prescott does not return, the Las Vegas preview gives a Dallas team that has won two out of three home games and has one of the best defenses in the league as the clear favorite. Yes, the Lions have a great offense, but before going on break they were blanked by the Patriots’ good defense and are likely to be without Andre-Ra St. Louis again. Actually, they will play without Brown and D’Andre Swift.

Although the Lions’ defense is a disaster, their offense is very good, and three out of their four losses this season were by four points or fewer.
Dallas’ offense could improve with Prescott’s arrival, but don’t expect Detroit to get blanked again or get crushed by the Cowboys. In addition, in the last six meetings between the two organizations, the visiting team has a 5-1 record playing against the spread.

After the loss to the Eagles, the Cowboys’ aspirations to win more than 10 games hinge on what they can do playing at home due to their strong road schedule.
Proof of this is that in weeks 10 and 11 they must visit the Packers and Vikings consecutively, while in week 15 they go to Jacksonville and close the season at the home of the Titans and Commanders. Apart from this last matchup and the Jaguars, the other three look quite complex.
But, when it comes to home games, the Cowboys play this week and next week against the Lions and Bears, two affordable teams. Then in Weeks 12, 13, and 14, they host the Giants, the Colts, and the Texans, respectively, while in Week 16 they face the Eagles again. Assuming wins over the Colts and Texans, it is imperative that Dallas at least repeat the win over New York to reach 11 wins.

The loss to the Eagles complicated the Cowboys’ aspirations to win the division. Not only did Philadelphia take a two-game lead, but also won a game in the series, so now they only need to have a better record than them.

In addition, he is second in yards lost per catch with 47, third in tackles for loss of yardage with eight and fourth in hits on opposing quarterbacks with 12.
