Betting on the Miami Dolphins (+3)
Regular season record: 0-0
Tua Tagovailoa still has to prove himself in the NFL, though, he remains undoubtedly the No. 1 guy under center for Miami entering the new season. A big question mark for Tagovailoa is his health. Last season, Tagovailoa played in only 13 games, passing for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns. That’s a major step in the right direction for Tagovailoa, who must be happy at how his downfield options look like.
Tyreek Hill is his No. 1 target, but Jaylen Waddle is not far behind at No. 2. Waddle is dealing with an abdomen issue at the time of this writing, but the general expectation is that he will play in Week 1 versus the Chargers. In 2022, Hill and Waddle recorded 1,710 and 1,356 receiving yards, respectively, while combining for 15 touchdown receptions. That high-flying duo can turn things in the Dolphins’ favor in an instant.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (-3)
Regular season record: 0-0
The future is still bright for the Chargers, in large part because they don’t have many problems with their quarterback situation. They are stable there with Justin Herbert handling the rock. He is also still surrounded by pretty much the same core of major producers on offense.
Although Los Angeles was just 30th in rushing yards in 2022, starting running back Austin Ekeler is one of the best in the business, thanks in large part to his pass-catching skills. With the pair of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, the Bolts can have another season of high-flying attack which averaged 268.7 passing yards – third in the entire league – a season ago.
