The Dolphins got off to a rocky start in the 2023 NFL preseason. Miami coughed up just a field goal in total offense in their 19-3 home loss to the Atlanta Falcons last Friday. The Dolphins struggled on offense for nearly the entire game, with Skylar Thompson throwing for two interceptions and Mike White getting picked once.
Tua Tagovailoa and other regular starters of Miami didn’t see action in the Atlanta game. Don’t be surprised if the Dolphins repeat the same roster decision in the coming game versus Houston, but perhaps with an improved result. One thing about Miami was that it reached the end zone three times to just two Atlanta. The Dolphins simply couldn’t finish their drives, and they will look to address that this coming weekend against the Texans.

Betting on the Houston Texans (-3.5)
Preseason record: 1-0
CJ Stroud’s first taste of an official, competitive NFL game was not all that memorable. He went 2/4 for 13 yards and got intercepted against the New England Patriots in Week 1 but at least the Texans came away with a 20-9 victory. There are some more growing pains to expect for Stroud, who could be more productive against Miami’s defense that got torched by Atlanta.
On the flip side, the Texans’ stop unit will look to build on the momentum it got in the Patriots game. If the Dolphins think they’re going to have it easier in finishing drives in Week 2, they can’t be so sure about that because Miami just held the Patriots to only first downs and just 3/13 on third downs. Wide receiver Tank Dell impressed in the win over the Patriots with 65 receiving yards and a touchdown on five catches and eight targets. There’s potential for him to go off anew this coming Saturday.
The Texans are 4-0 against the spread in their last four preseason games.
