Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (-2)
Regular season record: 4-5
The Falcons are going with Taylor Heinicke once again as their starter in Week 10. With Desmond Ridder still seemingly unable to get into his rhythm in the pros, Atlanta is giving the nod for Heinicke to start versus the Cardinals.
In Atlanta’s last game in Week 9 at home, Heinicke threw for 268 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 21/38 completions in a 31-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. It was not a savvy performance, but there’s a strong case that he’s the much better option than Ridder for Atlanta’s offense. For one, the 28 points the Falcons scored in the Minnesota game was the most they’ve generated in a single contest through nine weeks of the season. Arizona’s defense is among the worst in the league, so there’s a good chance for Atlanta’s offense to shine again.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (+2)
Regular season record: 1-8
Will Kyler Murray finally get to make his much-awaited return to action from injury this week? If not, then that’s perfectly understandable because it’s clear that the season is already lost for the Cardinals. With that said, expect rookie Clayton Tune to get the start in Week 10 after he got pummeled by the Cleveland Browns in a 27-0 road loss last Sunday.
In that game, Tune went 11/20 for just 58 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. He was also sacked seven times for a loss of 41 yards. Tune isn’t going to turn into Kurt Warner just a week after that kind of punishment, but he can be better against an Atlanta defense that doesn’t really bite hard. The Falcons are just 29th in the league in defensive interception rate and 24th in defensive sack rate.
