Betting on the New York Jets (+2.5)
Regular season record: 1-3
Even though the Jets suffered a loss in Week 4, there’s a reason for them to feel a little better about themselves. After all, they played much more competitively than most people expected them to against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday at home, losing only by a close margin to the reigning Super Bowl champions, 23-20.
That’s not to mention that Zach Wilson surprised a lot of people by actually playing better than Mahomes, passing for 245 yards and three touchdowns against zero interceptions on 28/39 completions. In other words, there is life in the offense of the Jets. Having another great game this weekend shouldn’t be a pipe dream for Wilson, particularly because Denver has the worst-scoring defense in the NFL. The Broncos are allowing 37.5 points per game this season.
Betting on the Denver Broncos (-2.5)
Regular season record: 1-3
Denver is winless no more. It looked as though the Broncos were on their way to yet another loss in Week 4 after they went down by as many as 21 points to the Chicago Bears on the road, but they found a way to score a 31-28 come-from-behind victory.
Russell Wilson was fantastic under center versus the Bears, as he went 21/28 for 223 passing yards and three touchdowns with no picks thrown. With newfound success and boosted morale, the Broncos are feeling good about their chances of becoming the latest team to pounce on the struggling Jets squad. Wilson is having a solid second season with the Broncos, as he’s got 1,014 passing yards and nine touchdowns with only two interceptions on a 67.4 percent completion rate in 2023.
El Jefe’s Prediction on New York Jets vs Denver Broncos
Zach Wilson fails to follow up on his solid showing in Week 4 as he struggles in Denver. However, Russell Wilson will not have a great game either but will do just enough to tow the Broncos to a victory.
Prediction:
The Broncos win, 21-20.
