Betting on the New York Jets (-6.0)
Preseason record: 1-2
The Jets are looking to finish the preseason with a .500 record, but in reality, that’s just nothing but a minor consolation. The focus for New York remains on polishing their execution and finding out who will and will not make the final roster cuts. Aaron Rodgers isn’t going to play in Week 3, as he should. But Zach Wilson likely will.
As the chief backup of Rodgers, Wilson can boost his confidence by finishing the preseason with a notable performance for the Jets, who are coming off a 13-6 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2. Wilson passed for 70 yards on 9/13 completions against the Bucs and also paced the team with 41 rushing yards on two carries. Despite the measly scoring production there, the Jets can turn to their defense to carry them. New York is allowing just 11.3 points per game in the preseason.
Betting on the New York Giants (+6.0)
Preseason record: 1-1
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones gave New York fans a reason in his first competitive game since signing a massive contract extension with the team in the offseason. Jones passed for 69 yards and a touchdown on 8/9 completions in a 21-19 home loss tso the Carolina Panthers last week. He is good to go for the regular season, so there’s no pressing need for New York to play him again against the Jets. Tyrod Taylor can take it from here for the Giants’ QBs, as he’s elevated his play in Week 2 after struggling in Week 1 against the Lions.
Defensively, the Giants have been pretty stingy in the preseason. They are surrendering just 281.0 total yards per game and only total first downs.
El Jefe’s Prediction on New York Jets vs New York Giants
The Jets will continue playing great defense which should slow down a Giants offense that likely will not have Jones, as mentioned earlier.
Prediction:
The Jets win, 19-13.
