Betting on the New York Jets (-1)
Regular season record: 4-4
The Jets are still not promoting Trevor Siemian from the practice squad despite yet another poor performance by Zach Wilson in Week 9’s 27-6 loss at home to the Los Angeles Chargers. In other words. It’s still going to be Wilson under center for New York in Week 10 versus the Raiders.
Wilson went 33/49 for 263 yards in the Chargers game and while he did not get picked, he had no touchdowns and also lost a fumble twice. On top of that, he was sacked eight times for a loss of 57 yards. The hope for the Jets is always going to rest mostly on the shoulders of their defense which knows how to do its job, particularly against the pass. The Jets are eighth in the NFL with just 19.5 points allowed per game and third with only 174.8 passing yards allowed per contest.
Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (+1)
Regular season record: 4-5
It seems that the Raiders are having fun again. In their first game since Las Vegas fired Josh McDaniels, the Raiders walloped the New York Giants at home in Week 9, 30-6. Save your “It’s only the Giants” remarks because what many people saw in that game was a Raiders squad that looked so rejuvenated.
That sounds like trouble for the Jets. With their success against the Giants, the Raiders will also likely keep starting Aidan O’Connell under center. The rookie wasn’t spectacular in the Giants game (16/25, 0 TDs, 0 INTs), but at least he did not turn the ball over. He might even take a backseat again to Josh Jacobs and the Raiders’ ground attack, considering the seemingly leaky run defense of New York. The Jets are 22nd in the league with 4.2 rushing yards allowed per game, while Jacobs just exploded for 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries versus the Giants.
El Jefe’s Prediction on New York Jets vs Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders keep it rolling by riding on the legs of Josh Jacobs and their defense that contains Wilson.
Prediction:
The Raiders win, 21-16.
