Betting on the Detroit Lions (-1.5)
Regular season record: 6-2
The Lions are feeling good. They managed to get back up following a 38-6 embarrassment at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens on the road in Week 7, as they took the Las Vegas Raiders down at home in Week 8, 26-14. That win was the last straw for the Raiders’ patience on Josh McDaniels and one that gave the Lions a great mood heading into a bye in Week 9.
Against the Raiders, the Lions leaned on rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who erupted for 152 rushing yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. With David Montgomery also likely to return to action this week from injury, the Lions’ seemingly lethal rushing attack could get even deadlier, and that’s not good news for the Chargers, who have one of the most porous defenses in the NFL.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (+1.5)
Regular season record: 4-4
The Chargers are gaining momentum again. After consecutive losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bolts went undefeated in their next two games, albeit versus non-Super Bowl contenders in the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets.
Nevertheless, a win is a win, and the Chargers now have four of them to be .500 again.
Los Angeles’ pass rush will come into Week 10 looking to slow down Detroit’s attack. The Chargers were so successful in that area in their 27-6 road win over the Jets, as they recorded eight defensive sacks. Joey Bosa had 2.5 sacks, while Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu each had two QB takedowns. That spells like a tough assignment ahead for Detroit’s offensive line.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Chargers
The Lions pass another test, as they steal a win in Inglewood, with their running backs doing plenty of damage.
Prediction:
The Lions win, 26-23.
