The Lions continue to prove why they are for real this season. They extended their win streak to four games when they destroyed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 20-6 win on the road last Sunday.
Although Detroit did not meet its season scoring average in that contest, the Lions showed that they can win games with their defense as well, holding Tampa Bay down to only 251 total yards and 2/12 on third downs. Detroit is inside the top 10 in both scoring offense (28.0 PPG) and scoring defense (18.8 points allowed per game) so far this season. Detroit’s ground attack took a hit though with a long-term injury to David Montgomery, but the Lions’ passing attack can pick up the slack.
Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (-3)
Regular season record: 4-2
The Ravens had success across the pond, eking out a 24-16 in London over the Tennessee Titans last Saturday. Lamar Jackson passed for 223 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 21/30 completions and also led the Ravens with 62 rushing yards on 13 carries. Baltimore’s offense has been a bit befuddling this season.
Despite being led by a talented dual-threat quarterback, the Ravens are still averaging just 22.2 points per game, only 15th overall in the NFL. They are also 16th with 2.3 touchdowns per game. However, that makes Baltimore a prime candidate for positive TD regression, and the explosion could come this weekend at home against the Lions.
