Betting on the Green Bay Packers (-1)
Regular season record: 1-0
Jordan Love passed his first test of the 2023 NFL season, leading the Packers to a brilliant 38-20 win over the Chicago Bears on the road last Sunday. Love easily outplayed Bears quarterback Justin Fields, as he passed for 245 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on 15/27 completions. But credit for the win can also be shared with Green Bay’s young talents on defense, including Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt, and Lukas Van Ness. Fields was sacked four times for a loss of 27 yards and also intercepted once (Walker).
Packers running back Aaron Jones suffered a hamstring issue in Week 1 that led to his early exit from the Bears game, but he assured after the contest that he was fine, so expect him to be back on the field for Week 2’s matchup against the Falcons. He will be a major weapon by Green Bay against the Falcons’ defense that gave up over 150 rushing yards in Week 1.
Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (+1)
Regular season record: 1-0
Desmond Ridder and the Falcons had a successful start to their season, as they beat the Carolina Panthers at home on Sunday, 24-10. Ridder went 15/18 for 115 passing yards and a touchdown with zero picks thrown, but perhaps even more impressive was the pair of Atlanta running backs in Tyler Allgeier and rookie Bijan Robinson.
Allgeier led the Falcons with 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, while Robinson rushed 190 times for 56 yards and also pulled down all six targets for 27 receiving yards and a touchdown. But don’t sleep on Atlanta’s defense heading into Week 2, especially after the Falcons had two interceptions and forced three Carolina turnovers. The Falcons might just have the defensive prowess to stun Green Bay.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Green Bay Packers vs Atlanta Falcons
Jordan Love will have a so-so performance in Week 2, but it will be enough to lead Green Bay to a win.
Prediction:
The Packers win, 20-19.
