Betting on the Green Bay Packers (+1)
Regular season record: 2-2
Consistency has been a big issue for the Packers this season. They have alternated wins and losses this season and will once again look to get back up from a loss, as they suffered a 34-20 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions in Week 4. However, the Packers are expected to run better, at least offensively this week.
Running back Aaron Jones and wide receiver Christian Watson were seemingly not at 100% against the Lions but should feel healthier when they hit the field for a meeting with the Raiders, whose defense offers hope for Green Bay’s attack. On the season, the Packers are 10th in the NFL with 25.0 points per game even though they are only 27th in total offense with 280.8 total yards per contest.
Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (-1)
Regular season record: 1-3
The Raiders just want to end their slump. With Jimmy Garoppolo sidelined by a concussion in Week 4, the Raiders suffered a 24-17 road loss to the Los Angeles Chargers – their third in a row. Rookie Aidan O’Connell started for the Raiders and he played like, well, a rookie. He went 23/39 for 238 passing yards and zero touchdowns with an interception, while also getting sacked seven times for a loss of 50 yards.
The good news for the Raiders is that O’Connell will return to his QB2 role, with Garoppolo clearing concussion protocol at last. Las Vegas’ offense has been problematic this season but Garoppolo being back means that it’s now in a better shape than in Week 4. However, watch out for the availability of star wide receiver Davante Adams, who did not practice on Thursday and Friday.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Green Bay Packers vs Las Vegas Raiders
The Packers trade punches with the Raiders on the road and emerge victorious, thanks to a big game from Aaron Jones.
Prediction:
The Packers win, 26-23.
