Betting on the Carolina Panthers (+5.5)

Bryce Young is still searching for his first win in the NFL, as the Panthers lost anew in Week 2, falling prey to the New Orleans Saints at home, 20-17. Before that, Carolina tasted a 24-10 defeat on the road at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. Young, however, had a better outing in Week 2 than in Week 1, recording 153 passing yards and a touchdown with no interceptions on 22/33 completions.
Veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen, meanwhile, reminded everyone he still exists by leading Carolina with 54 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven receptions and nine targets. Young and the Panthers’ offense could finally take flight this coming Sunday against the Seahawks’ faulty defense that is allowing 30.5 points per game and is seemingly not having much success when pressuring the pocket.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-5.5)
Regular season record: 1-1
After getting punched in the face in Week 1 by the Los Angeles Rams, the Seahawks made sure they played better football in Week 2. And they did, as Seattle took down the Detroit Lions on the road, 37-31, via overtime. Geno Smith passed for 328 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 32/41 completions.
Is Geno Smith back? It is fair to say that he is, and he could sustain his newfound form against Carolina, which might not have linebacker Shaq Thompson, who exited Monday’s game after a gruesome-looking injury. Smith has plenty of weapons downfield that he could use to stretch Carolina’s defense. DK Metcalf leads the team this season with 122 receiving yards to go with a touchdown, while Tyler Lockett is second with 69 receiving yards to go along with two touchdown grabs.
