Betting on the New England Patriots (+10.5)

Those who wrote off the Patriots after a 1-5 start must be eating their words following New England’s shocking 29-25 upset win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 7. Mac Jones finally put together a great performance this season, as he went 25/30 for 272 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions against Buffalo. That victory sets up New England nicely for the rematch versus the Dolphins.
Back in Week 2’s 24-17 Patriots loss in Foxborough to the Dolphins, Jones passed for 231 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 31/42 completions. New England’s pass defense did a good job even in the loss to Miami, as the Patriots held Tyreek Hill to only 40 receiving yards on five catches and nine targets. Wide receiver Damario Douglas is also starting to turn heads and he could be an X-factor in Week 8. He only had two catches for 18 yards in the first meeting with Miami, but his role has gotten bigger since.

The Dolphins swam into trouble in Week 7, failing to overcome the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in a 31-17 loss. The usually electrifying offense of the Dolphins was only able to put up 244 total yards, a they were beaten soundly in the possession battle, with Miami unable to make enough stops on defense.
That shouldn’t be that big of a problem this coming weekend, though, versus the Patriots. New England outgunned the Bills in Week 7, but it’s going to take more of that to convert people into believers of the Patriots’ attack that is always a risk to stall. Back in Week 2, the Dolphins sacked Jones four times and forced two New England turnovers. Watch out for the Dolphins’ rushing attack as well. Raheem Mostert cooked the Pats’ ground defense for 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries.
