The Patriots finally got in the win column with a 21-17 victory ove the Green Bay Packers last Saturday to the tune of a 21-17 score at Lambeau Field. Prior to that, the Pariots suffered a 20-9 defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans at home in Week 1 of the preseason.
Bailey Zappe continues to show promise in the preseason even though it’s Mac Jones who will be starting for the Pats in the regular season . Zappe passed for 117 yards in the Green Bay game, while also tossing a touchdown. He went just 10/22 but did not get intercepted or sacked. Jones played minimally in Week 2 and it will not be a surprise if New England rests him completely on Friday, which would also mean more time for Zappe to show out.
The Patriots are 3-1 against the spread in their last four preseason games.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (+2.0)
Preseason record: 1-1
Like New England, the Titans earned their first win of the preseason in Week 2, as they trounced the Minnesota Viking on the road last Saturday, 24-16. Before that, Tennessee lost to the Chicago Bears in Windy City in Week 1, 23-17. After back-to-back games in enemy territory, the Titans will be playing at home at last, and that’s a big plus for Malik Willis and company. Willis passed for 85 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 10/17 completions against the Vikings. Willis is still trying to find his rhythm in the NFL, and another start could be in line for the second-year pro. Tennessee could rely on its rushing attack anew after recording 281 yards and two touchdowns on the ground versus the Vikings.
Tennessee, which is No. 1 in the preseason with 203.5 rushing yards per game, has seen the total hit the Over in seven of its last 10 August contests.
