Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (-3)
Regular season record: 3-3
The Raiders are in danger of missing the services of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 7 against Chicago after he suffered a back injury in last Sunday’s 21-17 home win over the New England Patriots. Should he be sidelined for Week 7, the Raiders could start either veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O’Connell.
Hoyer could get the nod though after passing for 102 yards on 6/10 completions with zero turnovers when he got on the field as a replacement for Garoppolo in Week 6. Whoever the QB will be for Las Vegas in Week 7 will face a leaky Bears defense that is 29th in the league with 29.3 points allower per game and 29th against the pass (267.3 passing yards allowed per contest).
Betting on the Chicago Bears (+3)
Regular season record: 1-5
Like the Raiders, the Bears might not have their top quarterback on the field in Week 7. Justin Fields is currently considered doubtful for the Raiders game because of a dislocated right thumb. If he fails to get cleared in time for Week 7’s contest, the Bears will likely turn to Tyson Bagent for starting QB chores.
Bagent saw a bit of action in Week 6’s 19-13 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings, going 10/14 for 83 passing yards and zero touchdowns with an interception. This could be a chance for Bagent to shine and potentially get a serious look from Chicago, which is still looking to turn things around before it’s too late. Chicago is 1-2-1 against the spread this season in games after a loss.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Las Vegas Raiders vs Chicago Bears
This game is a bit tricky to predict, given the statuses of the starting quarterbacks. However, this is a winnable game for Chicago, with or without Justin Fields. Las Vegas struggles with ball security and doesn’t have an elite offense or defense. Taking the Bears to cover.
Prediction:
The Raiders win, 19-17.
