Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (+8.5)

The Raiders kicked off the Jimmy Garoppolo Era with a win, as they took down the Denver Broncos in Mile High City in Week 1, 17-16. Garoppolo went 20/26 for 200 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception. If you didn’t see the game, you’d think that wide receiver Davante Adams led the Raiders downfield, but it was another team newcomer who paced them in that area, as Jakobi Meyers finished with 81 receiving yards and caught both of Garoppolo’s touchdown tosses.
Meyers, however, is dealing with a head injury at the moment, so there’s a possibility he will miss this matchup versus the Bills. Nevertheless, the Raiders still have Adams and running back Josh Jacobs, who could be poised for a big performance against Buffalo’s stop unit that gave up 172 rushing yards on 28 carries in Week 1.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-8.5)
Regular season record: 0-1
The Bills had a wild ride in Week 1, but it was nothing they’d be happily reminiscing about. They suffered a 22-16 overtime loss to the mostly Aaron Rodgers-less New York Jets on the road on Monday, with quarterback Josh Allen playing poorly. Allen went 29/41 for 236 passing yards and a touchdown while also getting picked off three times and sacked five times for a loss of 19 yards.
Allen, however, is very much capable of putting together a great performance. The Jets’ defense was simply too good and too unforgiving, which you couldn’t really say about the Raiders’ D that forced zero turnovers against the Broncos. Playing at home will also be a big plus for Allen and company after opening the season in enemy territory.
