Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (+6)
Regular season record: 3-4
The Rams still are having trouble with consistency. They have alternated wins and losses over the past several weeks and followed up their 26-9 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6 at home with a 24-17 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7 – also at home. But there encouraging signs for the Rams.
For one, their backfield managed to produce 135 rushing yards and a touchdown versus the Steelers despite Kyren Williams being on the injured reserve. Royce Freeman and Darrell Henderson Jr. will continue to try to inject life into the Rams’ ground attack. There is also Puka Nacua, who recorded 154 receiving yards on eight catches and 12 targets versus Pittsburgh even though Cooper Kupp is healthy and playing. He is a legitimate threat downfield that can stretch defenses. A needed weapon for the Rams, who are sixth in the NFL with 258.8 passing yards per game.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (-6)
Regular season record: 4-2
After getting wallopped by the San Francisco 49ers in the Bay Area in Week 5, the Cowboys rediscovered their form and pummeled the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6 in Inglewood, 20-17. With a bye in Week 7, the Cowboys will have the fresher legs than the Rams, whose injuries are piling up.
Dak Prescott has been up and down this season, but after getting sacked five times for a loss of 26 yards by the Chargers, he could be freer in the pocket opposite the Rams’ defense, even with Aaron Donald around, that is only 28th in the league in defensive sack rate with a 4.67 percent clip. Speaking of which, Dallas’ defense is stout, at least on paper, allowing only 16.7 points and 288.7 total yards per game — sixth and eighth in the NFL, respectively.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Rams vs Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys contain LA’s offense to record their fifth win of the season. Dak Prescott throws for at least 250 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.
Prediction:
The Cowboys win, 26-20.
