Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (+3.0)
Preseason record: 2-0
The Seahawks caught a bad break as first-round rookie and former LSU Tigers star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been diagnosed with a fracture in his wrist. In other words, don’t expect him to be on the field this Saturday versus the Packers. It is not the end of the world, though, for Seattle, which likely would have rested the wideout in Week 3 even if he was healthy.
The Seahawks remain undefeated in the preseason after bringing down the Dallas Cowboys at home last Saturday, 22-14. The offense has been doing okay so far for Seattle, which is averaging 345.0 total yards per game and 23.0 points per contest. Even without JSN downfield, the Seahawks can continue having success in the passing attack, as another rookie in former UCLA Bruins wideout Jake Bobo is also getting plenty of attention with his solid play in training camp and in the preseason.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (-3.0)
Preseason record: 1-1
The Packers got stopped by the New England Patriots in Week 2, losing to Bill Belichick’s team at home, 21-17. However, it was encouraging for Green Bay to see Jordan Love have a great job on the field in limited time. Love went ⅝ with a touchdown in the Patriots game.
Sean Clifford also impressed, as he went 13/19 for 137 passing yards. Meanwhile, wide receivers Malik Heath and Romeo Doubs caught all passes that went their way to keep the chains moving for the Packers, who can also turn to their ground attack to soften up Seattle’s defense. The Packers are fourth in the preseason with 151.0 rushing yards per game.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Seattle Seahawks vs Green Bay Packers
The Seahawks are unscathed in this preseason so far, but they are 0-3 straight-up in their last three road games in August. Taking the Packers to win this game.
Prediction:
The Packers win, 23-20.
