Tennessee went from a contender to a pretender quickly last season. After starting the 2022 campaign with a 7-3 record, the Titans lost all their games from Week 12 to Week 18 to finish with a 7-10 record. After such a bitter end to the season, it’s time for Tennessee to rise up again, and their mission to establish a winning culture again begins in this preseason game against the Bears. Tennessee has won six of its last 10 preseason games, dating back to 2019. The Titans also went 4-3-2 against the spread in those contests.
Malik Willis and Will Levis are the two backups of Ryan Tannehill, who likely will be left to watch the young guys do the work under center versus Chicago. Levis has an axe to grind against the rest of the NFL after sliding all the way down to the second round of the NFL Draft, so look for him to be very motivated to show up with a good performance in the preseason, beginning with the matchup versus the Bears.

The Bears traded their rights to the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers for a bunch of assets. Chicago did not need to select a quarterback because the team still trusts Justin Fields, and the Bears got him some new weapons in the offseason, including running backs D’Onta Foreman and Travis Homer and wide receiver DJ Moore and tight end Robert Tonyan.
The Bears were a run-heavy team in 2022, but they should be more pass-oriented this time around. They could shine passing the ball even with backups PJ Walker and Nathan Peterman handling the QB duties against Tennessee, which was last in the NFL last year with 274.8 passing yards allowed per game. Conversely, Chicago’s secondary is loaded this year, so the Bears have the potential to stymie Tennessee’s passing attack, especially with Ryan Tannehill unlikely to play on Saturday for the Titans.
